LFS Workshops are a range of short and part-time professional development courses, with the emphasis on a totally hands-on, intensive learning experience. All courses are developed by leading practitioners and offer an opportunity to study at a high professional level, right in the centre of London. DIRECTING

'The Other Side of the Fence' with director Richard Kwietniowski          

A one week workshop 8th - 12th September 2008. Venue: City Lit (Central London)

A five day course for directors and actors designed to give them more experience of working together for the camera.

'An introduction to working with actors and their techniques: From Stanislavski to Meisner' with Adam Meggido

A 3 day workshop. September 2008 (dates to be confirmed)

An intensive course for film directors who are looking to gain a better understanding of how to work with actors.

 

Improvisation for Directors in Film & TV with Sean McCann

A one week workshop. December 2008 (dates to be confirmed)

Participants work with actors on performance and fix problems in existing script work through improvisation.

 

'Alexander Mackendrick on Film-making: An introduction to the Craft of the Director' with Paul Cronin

A weekend seminar. December 2008 (dates to be confirmed)

This popular course is based on Mackendrick's influential teachings and features previously unseen footage of his lectures.

 

SCREENWRITING

Writers' Gym I with Ellis Freeman

8 week part-time evening course.  Monday evenings starts 8th September 2008

Aims to stimulate ideas, seeking ways to unblock, gain writing habits, develop those ideas and find your voice.

 

Writers' Gym II with Ellis Freeman

Advanced level.  8 week part-time evening course.  Tuesday evenings starts 9th September 2008

An expansion of Writers' Gym I, this course focuses on the development of a single feature project for each writer

 

Creative re-writing with Ellis Freeman and Hope Dickson-Leach

Advanced level. 2 weekends: 8/9 & 22/23 November 2008

The re-writing process is tackled from all angles, preparing participants to embark on a new draft with vigor and purpose.

 

FILM COMPOSING

Composing Music for Film & TV

Students will gain a thorough working knowledge of the various aspects involved in composing for film and television.
