BECTU Guidance Notes

BECTU 'guidance notes' are intended to inform BECTU reps and officials about learning and skills issues. They are intended as guides and should not be seen as definitive statements or legal rulings.

apprenticeship checklist  Apprentiship checklist: Provides information to help assess proposed apprenticship schemes to safeguard the apprentice, ensure the training and supervision is first class, protect the exisiting workforce.

Diversity and respect policy   Diversity & respect policy:  Lays down a policy to govern how courses should be run with respect to diversity and equality matters. It outlines the standards to be reached, the rights of all participants and explains the procedures to be followed should someone wish to take action in respect of the policy.

model learning agreement   Model Learning Agreement: Sets out the details for a sound and effective learning agreement between BECTU (and partner unions in a multi-union environment) and employers/employers associations. Please note that this is an outline of 'good practice' but not all of it will be applicable in every circumstance. For example,  in a small workplace or firm,  a smaller more compact agreement might be more appropriate - but the 'model' is still a resource to be used. Please seek advice from a National official or the education & training department if you would like to use this model agreement.
